Hi everyone! Yes we are back on a crucial time where everyone's being fed up toward the government (Punk should never trust the government or any capitals! Mark my words till death comes). Yes it is relieving for me as well to know that I'm still able to write something for this crappy zine. And this time we have a Houston based post hardcore band named Overo who just put out a 7" single with a Tokyo based post hardcore band named Asthenia. IDK but the Tokyo band name kinda remind me of one of Blink 182's song lol.Actually its kinda an honour for me as to receive a press release from the band about the release of the split cause you know I also been a the fan of Overo before. Maybe some of you who havent noticed yet that Overo itself is not made up by the 'new kids on the block'. Yes the band consists of the exponents who's been on Football,etc before!
Yes I'm a fan of Football,etc and that is where I get to notice for this band. The band, so far, has produced one demo EP, a full length, and a split. I might say that their self titled full length has been a great skramz tunes so far and personally I think I have stated my love for their debut self titled full length on 2019 or probably this one is one of the best DIY skramz releases on my library. I love how Lindsay put out the beautiful melodies beneath its emotional cathartic vibes and yes the band has put out a great output from each records and yes I do still expect some moar! And for their splitmate, Asthenia, which I personally just discovered via this split and suprise suprise the band previously put out a record with one of my favorite Russian emo band named Ensslin. The band has released various split releases and an EP. Yes the band has been around since 2014. Musically, the split will present you a great skramz matches between two bands in which they have their own quality that is worth to get to listened to for this EP! Well if you love Yaphet Koto, Daitro, or some of its wavemate, this is a record you should listen to!
Actually the tour has been set up to promote the split but as we all know the pandemic has ruined everyone's life so the band seems have to postpone the agenda and yea I hope the both band or at least one of them could get a schedule for having an Indonesia date on their list lol! Lets hope so. Anyway the split is released on 7" vinyl by eight record labels accross six different places such as Forge (Japan), Middle-Man Records, Count Your Lucky Star, Scully Records (USA), Pundonor (Spain), Strictly No Capital Letters (UK), Lilac Sky (Norway), Polar Summer (Russia). Wow! What a list haha... And the Overo tunes are available on many digital platforms as well (Spotify, Deezer, etc) but if you wanna hear both from Overo and Asthenia as well its all available on each bandcamp's site.
