Later on I just discovered that the band's name comes from an acronym 'Pathetic Use of Potential'.The phrase is taken Babcock's grandma which can be concluded that the grandma itself doesnt give any support for Babcock's musical carreer, what a lyfe drama lol. Well I think the band embraces to be great as being prooven by their sucessful first footstep to got signed by SideOneDummy. I mean thats a huge thing for any new band putting out their very first baby on a label like SideOneDummy.
Well to be honest actually I just paid my attention toward the band as they put out their second full length 'The Dream Is Over' which still put out by SideOneDummy. I was impressed by its intensity of sound and amount of energy that lies beneath their songwriting. I remember a friend of mine named Toro, stated their music as a 'brand new punk rock', well you know I think that is not such an overated thing. The band has stated their signature sounds and songwritings since the first stuff they ever put out, so I think it wont be a difficult thing for them to have them flourish and cherish and this is proven by the latest 2 stuffs they put out 'Morbid Stuffs' LP and 'This Place Sucks Ass' EP which, to me personally, are their best output so far. The other factor is that Babcock's vocal that makes a distinct character and also putting out a great energy for the band's sounds.
To date the band has gained a great popularity within the scene or outta scene, yes they've been touring with so many notable musicians like Jeff Rossenstock, Cayetana, The Menzingers, Lemuria, etc and also some of band's songs featured on video games like Watch Dogs 2, NHL 15, NHL 20, etc. Well to me one of their performance that totally blew me away is their live footage on The Chris Gethard Show, awh man they fucking blasted the set out!
Well you know as I could remember though the band has been toured with various notable acts within the scene but never did any Asian tour so ya I really hope they'll do it someday and able to play at this barely far east land, Indonesia haha. Well next to The Weakerthans, I think Pup is the other Canadian band which the whole discography could end up to get heard favorably in my ear lol.
