Album Review : Just Friends - Hella

Musician :
Just Friends
Album : Hella
Date Release : March 04th 2022
Publisher : Pure Noise Records

Previously we all know that Pure Noise is a label that signs so many major acts on pop punk/orgcore scene, like Story So Far, State Champs, Boston Manor, etc. What gets my eyebrow moving is when the label started to put out a record by Masked Intruder, its like "Hey! This is a surprise to know that the label pays interest for Masked Intruder kinda music". I would think that a label might have a progression interest that they would sign more bands from the fifth wave acts like Prince Daddy and The Hyenas, and a band that I will write on this article, Just Friends.Just Friends is a band that is initially introducted by my internet friends, Trian. And yes the bandcamp directs me to "Rock 2 The Rhytm", I remember it was "Move 2 Miami" the first song that is shuffled into the playlist. It blows me away of course and time moves on as the grows their musical identity on 2018' LP "Nothing But Love". And it was the rising of many fifth wave bands with so much Counter Intuitive bands appears on the scene, you know bands like Mom Jeans, Prince Daddy, Retirement Party, etc.
The LP "Nothing But Love" has actually showed bands progression for its sound, I can tell that the band has shown its quality for building up their quality musically. The band has changed its music direction with you know "Rock 2 The Rhytm" much or less can be said a mixture sound of New Found Glory and Bomb The Music Industry! and "Nothing But Love" put up so much groove parts into their tunes. Also the band added Brianda "Brond" Goyos into the vocal department which brings a new vibe toward the band. And "Nothing But Love" brings up the celebration toward the fifth wave movement with some rap rock/funk vibe formulas into their incorporated sounds experimentation and of couese this is something new that everyone has taken notice into on 2018.
It takes 4 years for the band for a completion into their second LP "Hella" and to be honest the LP also brings a sattisfaction for the band's followers works. Let say they seem got sticked into their best quality on "Nothing But Love" and something new on "Hella" is that the band added up more 90's west coast hip-hop elements on this album by putting up collaborations with some hip hop musicians like Lil B, Hobo Johnson, and Nate Curry. Not only 90's hip-hop elements, the bands also added up some acid jazz tunes into their and I can proudly tell that Just Friends has just done it right! And yes the album also brings a reminiscent of rap rock stadium glorious sound. Its a tune that fits for a soul that requires a cheering up mood booster and I dont care for being overrated by these words lol.
Anyway, "Hella" is the band's debut on Pure Noise Records and probably this could be the band's huge step as you know Pure Noise is giant label if you could compare to their previous labels like Open Door or Counter Intuitive. The album is available on many colour vinyl variant and through many digital platforms for certain.
