Okay finally going home to update this shitty webzine lol. Yes after being so godamn bored to hear the instructor words, we're about to review one of my recent folk punk favorite collective, Apes of The State. Apes of The State started as April Hartman's musical ego as she needs kind of outlet after had recovery on a rehab facility toward abusing susbstances. This kind of story has totally approved my argument that music not only being an outlet for any person but also being a 'healing instrument' for someone. What a positive story to hear! So thanks to bandcamp for introducing me to this Pennsylvania folk punk act, it was on the top list of bandcamp's best selling stuff as I could remember.
And yes the recomendation has prooved it right and the 2015's LP 'This City Isn't Big Enough' hooked me up for the first time. I might think that April Hartman's musical background has affected this folk punk project directly, you know I might think she's into much Plan-It-X stuffs back then. You can hear it by the way the technique of guitar strumming which mostly being used on much of the song on Apes of The State.
Year 2019, could be said as one of the productive years for Apes of The State as this collective has unleashed two releases ; 4 way split single with Local Poo Head/Local News Legend/Mary Wander and an LP entitled Pipe Dream. So glad that this year has finally made Apes of The State unleashing a new album cause as we take a look from its length it takes 3 godamn years for this collective to unleash a new LP. And I believe this great length of time meant something good for this musical collective and yes this is correctly proofed. 'Pipe Dream' has totally found my expectation toward my personal expectation about the band. Its been a long time as well for myself not into folk punk stuffs, the last time I heard folk punk music is like a year ago where I was into Wingnut Dishwasher Working Union's album and bam! bandcamp recomendation has accompanied me to the band. IDK if it was 2014 or back then, probably Apes of The State has now becoming one of PIX's roster IMO lol. Well, musically I could describe that Apes of The State has brought what's best in folk punk and you cant say that you cant love April's songwriting if you're into bands or musicians like Ramshackle Glory, Ghost Mice, This Bike Is A Pipe Bomb, Paul Baribeau, etc.
This full length is available on many digital plaforms such like Bandcamp, Spotify, iTunes, and many others. And for the physical version this full length is available on CDs, tapes, and vinyls. Those are being sold on bandcamp site as well as you can help April for adopting Pebbles (A dog pet) if you want to. Well this is new!
