OK ur next review coming from a Houston band called Overo! As you might know that I posted their demo like a while ago and this probably one of skramz/post hardcore stuff we ever posted for a review after a damn long while lol. On this first paragraph, I would like to say that I actually not kinda into this kind of music so much so if there's any words being mistaken laid just please let me know about it. Actually, Orchid could be stated as the first underground emo bands that I listened to.
Not meant to discriminate to other bigger scene of emo/post hardcore itself, but there's actually a big barrier to put aside underground emo (Let say bands like City of Caterpillar, Orchid, Nail Perry, etc) and upper emo bands (Bands like Finch, A Static Lullaby, etc) and later as we know it Orchid itself is not a pure emotive bands cause the band is a perfect blend of emotive hardcore and powerviolence.
OK probably, I just discussed so much about an unimportant shit about emo so move up to the main thing we should discuss, Overo, lol. Well actually there's a suprise to know that Football, Etc, via twitter, announces another suprise that Lindsay and Mercy does another musical project named Overo! Well first I would like to say about the band that this one would be a bit different stuff and especially you're the one that into Football, Etc. What would I say so?! Cause Overo is much louder than Football, Etc. They will bring a perfect punch of post hardcore noises into your stereo. Let say I would like to describe that Overo has perfectly absorbed the huge amount of 'The Wave' and early skramz energy, let say if you're such a person that into bands like early days of Touche Amore, Daitro, or La Dispute, Overo would be your next new favorite tunes. What gets me in love for this record is the string section that used on songs like Summer Wheat which brings a great emotional vibe toward the songs. And also the band still incorporate a quiet-loud song structure, a common song structure that being used by much post hardcore bands.
This full length is produced on vinyl by legendary skramz and post hardcore labels like Middle-Man Records and Count Your Lucky Stars Records. And also the full length is available on much digital platforms like Bandcamp, Spotify, Deezer, etc.
