Album Review : Friend of My Youth - Telling

Musician : Friend of My Youth
Album : Telling
Date Release : July 19th 2019
Publisher : Secret Pennies / Salinas Records

OK move out to the next album that I'm going to write about, its a full length by Friend of My Youth. Well as an old-stuffs-New-Found-Glory fan, this name for certain will easily stuck in my head remembering one of New Found Glory's song on Catalyst album 'Truth of My Youth'. OK nevermind the new found glory thing, this band I actually discovered for the first time via a bandcamp search session! All hail to you bandcamp that has introduced me to a limitless knowledge. It was the self titled EP the first stuff I ever heard from this band. Those five-song content EP has hooked me up for the first time toward the band but unfortunately as I discovered the EP the band was disbanded at that time. Written on the note itself that everyone on the band has live in saperated towns so naturally that forces the band to get break-up but written on the current notes on the same EP that everyone on the band has lived in Corvallis so that's why they just reunited. Interesting story!
Salinas Records never failed me out to produce much of favorite records. To date I can say that this time Salinas Records finally produce a emo-leaning indiepunk records yay! Yes it was All Dogs' 'Kicking Everyday' the last record I would like to recognize as an emo leaning record that Salinas would produce and as we know itself that the label was a home for such band like PS Elliot or Swearin. Let say this Friend of My Youth's full length has definitely redefine the variety sounds of Salinas Records would offer to you.
Well actually I cant write much more about the band itself since I cant find out what has been laid for the band before the band got broke up but all I know via Instagram post is that the band has been a supported act for touring bands on Corvalis like Doe, Alien Boy, Dinners, etc. And musically I can describe you that Friend of My Youth has blended a mix of lesser twinkle vibe of American Football with any of indiepunk taste like PS Elliot or High Dive or All Dogs and resulting a favorable tunes like you will hear on their debut full length 'Telling'.
Actually I expect some more from this band as I might say as well they already found a way about how they should sound of. And I can say if they're willing to, this band can be going huge someday! The full length is available digitally on bandcamp, spotify, deezer, etc or if you're such a physical collector this one is available on vinyl on Salinas Records and Secret Pennies or this is on tapes as well released by Phat'n'Phunky Records.
