The Young Liars is an indie rock band, which was formed in Jakarta, Indonesia in 2008. The lineup consists of Rizki Aryo (vocals, guitar), Arya Wibowo (guitar), Hardiantra (bass), and Uton Nawawi (drums).
Our name was inspired by an amusing conversation between Rizki Aryo and his friend who asked him about his band name. Rizki Aryo said “I’ve got a brilliant idea for my band name.
Why don’t we call it ‘The Edison 1931’ to appreciate Thomas Alfa Edison's amazing contribution to the world and also to commemorate his death?” Rizki Aryo’s friend said, “What a YOUNG LIAR! You said that was your idea? IMPOSSIBLE!”Then he thought that ‘Young Liar’ sound very interesting, and we decided that ‘The Young Liars’ is our band name. Why? Because " we understand that nothing is ever original, that every idea is a combination of stolen inspirations ". For us, we are deeply inspired by the dreams and stories of our friends and family, social issues, and of course the music and philosophy of our
3 favorite bands: The Smiths, The Stooges and The Clash The Young Liars began working the first self-titled EP in early 2009. The album was recorded in Revolver Studio, Jakarta and produced by Bayu Renno.

The EP is not for sale. We only give the EP for free at the gigs. You guys have to make efforts to earn it.
Our turning point was when “It’s The Beginning Of The End” was on of the list of Top 100 LA Indiefest 2009.
On 2012 we're surprisingly become a headliners on MIDEM Festival Cannes 2012, France on the last minute. MIDEM is the world's largest music industry trade fair, which has been held annually at and around the Palais des Festivals in Cannes, France, since 1967.
